Does anyone have any idea how much dating sites sell for? I own a local community dating site that has been around for 18 months. there are currently just under 10000 members. We also have something different on our site that brings in more women then men. Members are increasing daily but not at the rate i would like. We are high in search engines and are averaging a few thousand hits per day. I have invested alot of money and time in this, but had tp put it aside due to other projects. I am curious if something like this would sell.
Thanks.... |

If you have a site with a ommunity and traffic, then there is value to the business so that you can sell it. No traffic and no community is almost valueless, unless you have a killer domain name (under 7 letters).
Those with traffic and community range in prices. They are so varied that there is no set rule, other than the larger the community, the more value. Some execs wont buy anything less than 100,000 users. Some 1 Million.
Best of luck selling it.

Can you tell us more about the site stats? How many people do you have login each week right now? How many new users registered in the last month? Do you have any interesting distribution partnerships? What's the site domain?
The more active your userbase, the more it's worth to an existing site owner. Your best bet is selling to an entrepreneur who would like to enter the market and pick up a site and membership seed. It's tough building and seeding a site from scratch. It's less tough to build from where you're at. As long as you have some happy users and a nice site/service. _________________ Mark Brooks

I work with a newly launched dating site and we may be interested in some type of j/v with you and your 10,000 members site.

I'm currently looking at a possible acquisition target so I for one would be very interested in a discussion on valuations and the various criteria being used today.
Is registered members the only metric used in acquisitions these days or do unique visitors (but not necessarily registered) play a role in these deals? I only ask because we have a very high amount of unique (non-registered) visitors versus registered members to our city sites, about 75/25 split, respectively.
Best,
